Lucky Supermarkets Of California Finds Tampered Card Readers
If you shop at any of the Lucky Supermarts in California, you may want to hold your bank placard accounts. Connected November 23, 2011, Lucky notified customers that the company had found compromised course credit/debit entry card readers in 20 of their stores.
In the notice, Lucky announced that it had discovered the compromised readers only in self-checkout lanes during the track of regular store sustainment, and that the tampered card readers were removed immediately. Lucky as wel says that they have too taken steps to improve the security of the posting readers altogether 234 of their stores.
So far, Lucky has non been notified of some compromised accounts, but it does recommend that any customers World Health Organization used ego-checkout lanes in any of the affected stores to check and supervise their accounts.
Given how common identity theft has become, this attack on Lucky store customers comes at none surprisal. Reported to the Federal Trade Delegacy, there were 721,418 fraud-relatd complaints to the Consumer Sentinel Network (CSN) in 2009 exclusive, and that number is presumptive higher today.
